ILE OSA KANRAN TEMPLE (Introduction)

Established in 2000, Ile Osa Kanran Yoruba Spiritual & Cultural Temple is a 501C3 non-for-profit organization in Brooklyn, New York. Our charitable programs include a monthly program dedicated to providing hot, nutritionally balanced meals to those facing food insecurity. What began as a 60-person feeding program every quarter has evolved into 200 to 600 meals served monthly. Initially we funded programs through member donations. To meet increased need in our community, our organization now hosts several fundraising events yearly. In addition to our hot meals programs, we also host a Back to School Drive, Fathers’ Day Food Sharing, Mother’s Day Gifting, Seniors Brunch, Christmas Toy Drive, and a clothing distribution.

Despite the heavy lifting for a small membership, community support is central to who we are and what we do as an organization. We stand on the principle of “I am my brother’s keeper.” We understand the difference that acts of kindness make for the people we serve and our members. We are committed to uplifting our local community and the world physically, mentally and spiritually. In 2019, we launched our Vision of Greatness, a youth initiative program that provides a safe space for children and young adults to connect with and move towards their life purpose. Through Vision of Greatness, we work to prevent some of the big challenges experienced by the adults we serve.

Whomever we encounter, our goal is to provide light, love, service and a measure of security.
